The gain of the Greensburg Salem School District in its commercial office will be a loss for the McKeesport Area School District.
The school board has hired McKeesport Area business manager Joan Wehner. The board of directors this week unanimously approved a five-year contract for Wehner, until June 30, 2026, with a prorated starting salary of $ 105,000.
“Glad to have her,” said Superintendent Ken Bissell of Wehner, who has been with McKeesport since March 2020. “She comes highly recommended by many in the business leadership community.
“We have newer staff in our business office. She will be able to come and understand what needs to happen and how to organize herself and put us on the right track.
Wehner, who lives in North Huntingdon, was previously the Assistant Business Director for the Penn-Trafford School District, where she worked for 10 years.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Duquesne University and is preparing a master’s degree in business administration.
Bissell said Wehner’s departure date has yet to be set. “We will be in contact with McKeesport to help with the transition,” he said.
Until then, Greensburg Salem will continue to use the services of Interim Commercial Director Mike Gigliotti, who works as needed, three or four days a week, at $ 625 a day. Gigliotti is retired as Business Director for the Woodland Hills School District.
Former Greensburg Salem Business Manager JR Dzurica recently left to fill the same position at the Mt. Pleasant Area School District, in the community where he grew up.
