The principal of Richmond Christian School and the academy’s business manager have been accused of failing to report the alleged sexual assault of an underage student by the school’s volleyball coach, who has been charged last week.
Chesterfield County police have also charged a second former volleyball coach and school teacher with a sexual offense for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with another student in 2017.
School principal Clifton Williams, 66, and business manager Derek Zbyszinski, 46, have both been charged with failing to make proper mandatory notifications regarding an alleged inappropriate relationship between volleyball coach Elisabeth R. Bredemeier, 21, and a teenage gamer between April and mid-July, according to police.
Bredemeier, of the 2600 block of Red Lane Road in Powhatan County, was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child due to her coaching role, which is a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which is a misdemeanor.
Virginia law requires doctors, nurses, teachers and other professionals to report to local authorities any suspected injury, abuse or neglect of a child of which they become aware in the course of their professional or official duties.
Chesterfield police announced on Friday that they arrested a second former school volleyball teacher and coach, Tara Drooker, 30, of the 300 block of Karl Linn Drive in Richmond, on four counts of indecent liberty with a child through his caretaking role. . Police say Drooker had an inappropriate relationship with the student that spanned several years from 2017.
According to Drooker’s LinkedIn account, she had been a teacher at Richmond Christian School since 2016. She also worked as a volleyball coach for Cosby High School in Chesterfield, according to Cosby’s athletics website.
Richmond Christian School is a coeducational, college-preparatory Christian day school for students in kindergarten through grades 5-12. The school is located on 33 acres at 6511 Belmont Road in Chesterfield, southwest of Richmond.
