Denise Montenegro is Hyatt’s new Chief Human Resources Officer | Business section

DENISE Montenegro, also known as Seet Fah Wong, will be the new Director of Human Resources at Hyatt Regency Saipan.

Her promotion takes effect on January 6, 2022 and she will succeed Joséphine Mesta who announced her retirement last week after 28 years of service at the hotel.

Montenegro, who is Malaysian, graduated in 1992 from César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland. She gained experience in the catering industry during an internship at the Hotel Krone in Winterthur, Switzerland, and Brasserie Lipp in Zurich, Switzerland.

Montenegro returned to Malaysia to begin her hospitality career as a waitress at the Taming Sari Grill Room at the Renaissance Melaka Hotel. She then joined The Datai Langkawi, a beach resort, as an assistant manager.

In June 1996, she became room service and cafe supervisor at Hyatt Regency Saipan. In 1997, she was appointed manager of a food and beverage store, a position she held until 2003.

She then transferred to the Hyatt’s finance department before working for the hotel’s human resources office.

Montenegro has been a Certified Hospitality Trainer since 2013 and a Certified Professional by the Society of Human Resources Management since 2018.

She is currently the treasurer of the SHRM-NMI chapter.

She is married to James Montenegro and they have two children: Amber who is 21 and Jett who is 15.
