Business Manager – Contract Employment in Birmingham, United Kingdom | Job ID: 624007

We are currently dealing with a client organization working on the largest engineering project in the UK, a new high speed train project. They are considering recruiting a Commercial Director working on a contract basis and based in the Birmingham office. In this role, you will manage budgets, liaise with various stakeholders, interface with procurement and commercial teams. Typical duties for the Commercial Manager position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Supply and Commerce to support the management of various contracts
  • Support the business in managing the executive/functional operating model (e.g. processes, policies, data), identifying where enabling changes/updates may be needed in relation to broader changes management’s operating model, and supporting leadership to implement them.
  • Own and manage executive reporting, working with colleagues in the PMO and project controls to integrate reporting into the overall business planning and program reporting cycle.
  • Support Management to develop and collate the Management plan, based on strategic priorities established by leadership, support monitoring and tracking of Management performance from a financial, project and people perspective.
  • Support management and other support functions to track progress and report against various metrics i.e. business plan.

Job requirements

  • Solid commercial experience
  • Understanding of project and program management techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of business processes and how to operate effectively
  • Knowledge of Agile/Lean management techniques.
  • Knowledge of P6 project management software and/or MS Office.
  • Knowledge of effective governance frameworks and dimensions, preferably in a government or corporate organization.
  • Knowledge of tracking key performance indicators and service level agreements.
  • Ability to work on multiple activities simultaneously and prioritize the most critical activities to ensure on-time delivery.
